JOB SUMMARY:
Summary: Drives Large tractor-trailer rigs and flat-bed transports to move heavy equipment to and from jobsites. Also Drives truck equipped with dump body to transport and dump loose materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, coal, or bituminous paving materials, or drives a truck equipped with a water tank to wet dirt and gravel in construction areas. Many of these jobs are not full time, the size of the project and organization of the work determining whether a worker spends all his time on one job or is transferred from task to task as the project progresses to completion. Some workers habitually work in one branch of the industry, whereas others transferred from task to task as the project progresses to completion or according to the availability of work or on a seasonal basis. May be designated according to specific work performed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. ? At all times observes and operates within applicable traffic laws ? Pulls levers or turns crank to tilt body and dump contents. ? Moves hand and foot controls to jerk truck forward and backward to loosen and dump material adhering to body. ? Loads truck by hand or by operating mechanical loader. ? Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water. Education and/or Experience Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Commercial Driver's License Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
