JOB SUMMARY:
Pet Stylist needed for a Heber City pet store. Provide basic grooming services and customer service as necessary. This job is composed of a variety of different tasks that may be covered by operational guidelines, and while individual judgment may occasionally be required in order to complete assigned tasks; most questions are directed to either the Grooming Salon Manager or the General Manager. Essential Job Functions: Through previous background and experience the candidate must demonstrate, with or without an accommodation, the ability to: Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts with emphasis on company interests. Professionally perform basic grooming services on animals as requested by customers and in accordance with company policy and procedure, ensuring the safety and well-being of each animal. Interest in animal welfare. Lift animals and merchandise up to 50 pounds. Duties and Responsibilities: 1) Perform basic grooming services including brushing, bathing, and conditioning of animals. May also perform cleaning of ears, expression of anal glands, and the trimming of nails. Follow owner's instructions or Breed Standards when clipping, stripping or trimming an animals' coat. Complete de-matting and flea dipping as per instructions from owner. 2) Provide and maintain personal clippers, blades, and other hand tools required to perform grooming services. 3) Generate business. Utilize periods of time when not grooming pets to generate business for the grooming salon by writing and sending reminder cards to customers who have not been in for grooming services for more than 3 months. Greet customers on the sales floor and promote grooming and/or hand out discount flyers, speak at obedience classes promoting grooming and hand out discount flyers, promote grooming at shot clinics by handing out discount flyers to waiting customers. 4) Train Grooming Assistants. 5) Complete daily grooming payroll and commission paperwork in accordance with company/regional policy. Complete and file reminder cards for each pet groomed on a daily basis. Daily turn in all paperwork to the Grooming Manager (or General Manager if the Grooming Manager is not available). 6) Ensure Grooming salon cleanliness, utilizing periods of time when not grooming to perform routine housekeeping to maintain appearance of the Grooming Salon to employer standards. 7) Ensure Grooming Salon safety by following safety policies and procedures as set by employer. 8) Assist in booking grooming appointments, keeping follow-up card file active and up-to-date. 9) Follow guidelines in the Holiday PP regarding days off and PTO time. 10) Special projects as assigned. Supervisory Responsibility: May provide guidance to Grooming Assistant(s) or other Pet Stylists (s) in department. May also test potential applicants for grooming procedures and evaluate skills and other job related tasks. Education/Experience: A qualified applicant to this position will demonstrate knowledge in the grooming industry, and either a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED) is preferred. In addition, the applicant should have at least one year's experience in grooming under the leadership of a professional groomer and must successfully complete a personal skill evaluation by the employer's Groomer or Grooming Manager.
