COMPANY DESCRIPTION: Energy West Mining Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PacifiCorp, a regulated utility based in Portland, Ore. Energy West produces low-cost, quality fuel for PacifiCorp's power plants and is nationally recognized in productivity, safety and the environment. Energy West operates the Deer Creek Mine, near Huntington, Utah. Underground longwall and continuous miner equipment are used at the mine to produce approximately 3.0 million tons of coal annually. DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: General Purpose: Responsibility for the general service and repair of the underground mining equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Duties include: * Cutting and welding * Maintenance and repair of mine equipment * Replacement of Longwall mechanical components * Replacement of Longwall electrical parts. * Permissibility examinations REQUIRED SKILLS: Requirement for this position: * A high school diploma, GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Underground and Surface electrical certification * 1-2 years maintenance experience All offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check, physical, and drug screening. This position requires a post-offer, pre-placement physical capacity screening, conducted by a licensed physical therapist, to assure the candidate meets the physical demands of the job. The screening will assess only the identified physical demands of the job being applied for.
