JOB SUMMARY:
Davis County Domestic Violence Shelter seeks Development Director/Grant writer. The position is Part Time-approximately 20-24 hours per week. The position will have the ability to work from home with frequent in-house meetings. Compensation is dependent upon experience. In addition, there is opportunity to participate in company retirement plan. Qualifications: Experience in grant writing and fund raising. Understanding of the functions and unique qualities of the non-profit sector. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Goal oriented success in program development. Well organized and detail oriented. A self motivated and highly personable individual. A working knowledge of the grant process; private and government. Skills in public speaking, developing and implementing marketing tools and ideas. Excellent computer and technology skills to include; web sites, Facebook and power point. Responsibilities: Be a representative of Safe Harbor and promote the centers mission and vision. Work in a partnership with Executive Director, Board of Directors, volunteers and staff members to maintain, develop and implement fundraising events and opportunities. Develop new private and government funding opportunities for the organization. Produce grant and RFPs and accurately complete mandatory reporting documents. Work closely with community partners and donors in acquiring and developing working and funding relationships. Prepare grant documents and quarterly/annual reports in consultation with Executive Director for timely submission. Explore and gather data specific to local and nationwide statistics which involving crisis and victim services and interventions. With Executive Director develop program and funding objectives and plans to commensurate with the goals of the organization. Assist with the editing of all grants, media advisories, newsletters, brochures, website content. Education and experience: Preference given to a candidate with an undergraduate degree in technical writing, communications, or other related field. And/or 3-5 years experience working in the nonprofit sector where the above outlined qualifications were utilized. Volunteer and fundraising experience desired. Must be able to pass a background test.
