JOB SUMMARY:
Qualifications ? Education/Training: o Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (required) o Masters Degree (desired) ? Experience: o 5+ years of professional experience in the required task area o Aircraft avionics systems and electrical/electronics experience considered a plus o Avionics design engineering is not a plus ? Security: o Either has a security clearance or has the ability to obtain a security clearance (which requires U.S. citizenship) Expertise and Functions ? Applies intensive and diverse knowledge to resolve complex design issues that have a significant impact to the program or task area ? Reads, interprets, and relays information, both verbally and in writing, on avionics systems electrical and electronic circuitry, and to apply this information for software solutions ? Performs technical planning, subsystem integration, verification and validation, risk analyses, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for major subsystems or components ? Knowledgeable of Department of Defense (DoD) regulations, requirements, policies and procedures, systems disciplines, engineering specifications and commercial practices relating to weapon systems production and sustainment support. ? Performs analyses for one or more avionics subsystems and ability to develop avionics subsystem specifications for new or existing avionics systems ? Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of subsystem and associated interface requirements into solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints; identifies and quantifies associated risks, and produces tangible results ? Performs subsystem architectural analysis, functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate subsystem requirements into hardware and/or software specifications. ? Develops design requirements for integrated and federated aircraft avionics systems from a functional and physical perspective. ? Establishes and oversees test criteria for integrated and federated avionics. ? Assesses emerging technologies to address their suitability for integration onto legacy aircraft. ? Interfaces with research engineers, test agencies and users to understand and document system requirements and capabilities. ?
