JOB SUMMARY:
Location: Layton, UT Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt Employment Type: Part-Time Department: Nursing Services Description: Part-time for Electroencephalography Technician (Neurology) Friday 9:00am - 3:00pm PRN. Duties: Measure patients' body parts and mark locations where electrodes are to be placed. Attach electrodes to patients using adhesives. Monitor patients using electroencephalographs (EEG), evoked potential (EP) instruments. Conduct tests or studies such as electroencephalography (EEG), polysomnography (PSG). Indicate artifacts or interferences derived from sources outside of the brain, such as poor electrode contact or patient movement, on electroneurodiagnostic recordings. Explain testing procedures to patients, answering questions or reassuring patients as needed. Adjust equipment to optimize viewing of the nervous system. Set up, program, or record montages or electrical combinations when testing peripheral nerve, spinal cord, subcortical, or cortical responses. Measure visual, auditory, or somatosensory evoked potentials (EPs) to determine responses to stimuli. Qualifications: 2-3 years of work related experience preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and staff. Must be capable of handling multiple tasks effectively and able to maintain a professional demeanor during stressful situations. Demonstrate compassion and understanding for the patient and caring parties. Possess pleasant and effective written, verbal, and telephone communication skills. Basic computer knowledge. MA, CMA, RMA experience beneficial.
