Native Preference Applies Pursuant PL93-638 SUMMARY / GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB: The Environmental, Safety, and Health Compliance Officer is responsible for implementing programs that prevent harm to workers, property, and general public by promoting the proper application of occupational health and safety guidelines within the organization. The incumbent analyzes work conditions and develops programs to control, eliminate, and prevent disease and injury, or prevent damage caused by chemical, physical, radiological, or other such agents. The incumbent conducts inspections and informs management of all observed compliance issues. The Environmental, Safety, and Health Compliance Officer also advises management on the cost and effectiveness of safety/health programs, conducts training, and evaluates program progress. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB FUNCTIONS: - Develops, implements, and maintains environmental, safety, and health (ESH) procedures and plans designed for ensuring compliance with contract requirements, governing regulatory authorities, and company policies. - Ensures compliance with safety procedures through inspections, training, and evaluations while keeping abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. - Possesses the authority to halt work if it is determined to be unsafe or environmentally unsound. - Installs and operates electronic equipment used to monitor environmental conditions during work activities (i.e. confined space monitoring). - Develops, maintains, and audits all contract ESH programs in accordance with company and site requirements. - Tabulates data, prepares charts, graphs, and sketches as required to adjust safety programs (ex. Injury rates, injury types, PPE budgets, lost time, etc.). - Develops and implements a full cycle chemical accountability-tracking program. - Responsible for maintaining Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on hazardous materials used in the workplace. - Maintains and purchases personal protective equipment for all appropriate classes of personnel. - Develops and maintains safety contingency plans (fires, spills, etc.). - Assures compliance with local fire regulations. - Conducts safety and hazardous communication training on a variety of systems and regulatory requirements to all levels of the organization. - Coordinates and conducts weekly safety meetings, audits, and inspections. - Investigates incidents and accidents, coordinating with management for workeramp;apos;s compensation claims and actions. - Maintains and updates Job Hazard Analysi
