Internal and External Applicants Job Description (Do of the Job) Hughes is looking for a highly motivated senior software engineer to join our team, located in Lindon, UT. Core work assignments will be to architect and develop Ruby on Rails applications. The successful candidate will have excellent problem solving skills; experience working in a team development environment; and the ability to understand business requirements and create technical features and functions that can be implemented into new or existing applications. Strong communication skills and the ability to explain ideas to peers are also important. Essential duties and responsibilities * Designing, implementing and testing features of rails applications * Collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot issues, identify solutions and implement fixes. * Research and evaluate alternative solutions and make recommendations on ways to improve applications and solutions Qualification/Skills (Know of the Job) Required Skills * M.S/B.S, CS/EE or equivalent * Experience developing business/commercial Ruby on Rails applications * Understanding of object-oriented concepts and patterns. * Experience working with relational databases including MySQL and Postgres. * Familiarity with UNIX/LINUX * Experience using Eclipse for application development. * Strong written and verbal communication. * Excellent work ethic.
