Utah State University is a Carnegie Research University - High Research Activity, and Utah's land-grant and space-grant institution. Founded in 1888 as the Agriculture College of Utah, USU is the oldest and largest public residential campus in Utah. The university is experiencing a robust enrollment of nearly 29,000 students this year with approximately 12,000 of those at USU's five regional campuses and in distance programs. In addition, more than 3,300 high school students are enrolled in USU courses as part of a statewide concurrent enrollment program. The Utah State University Foundation Board named the STE2M Center their number one philanthropic priority, and within only a few months raised nearly $500,000 in start-up funds. In addition, Utah State University is making a substantial commitment of ongoing salary and operating funds, space, facilities, and staff to support the long term success of the STE2M Center.
