The Outside Sales position is responsible for the sales and marketing effort with the objective of increased profitable sales through creating, building, and maintaining high quality customer relationships. The individual must behave consistently with Platt?s Core Competencies, focus on safety, and comply with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines. Provide customer service and manage customer relationships; as well as create and execute annual sales plans, marketing programs, forecasts and tracking systems. The individual must participate in sales meetings and product seminars, provide inside sales staff with all relevant information regarding accounts; work with management, credit, and customers to resolve payment issues promptly; maintain accurate and timely records including sales call schedules and expense reports; coordinate sales calls with vendors to introduce and demonstrate products, identify customer needs and promote product and service solutions; service each customer as effectively and efficiently as possible. Prepare and submit quotations. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Reliable and regular attendance is required. The individual is expected to promote teamwork, advise branch and regional management regarding business and economic trends. Work with inventory management to identify and maintain optimum product mix and stocking levels; enter purchase orders and arrange for Return Goods Authorizations (RGA?s) if necessary. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. This position requires a minimum of two years of electrical industry experience. The individual must possess all the attributes of the Inside Sales position, prioritize tasks, pay precise attention to detail, be sales and service oriented, self-motivated, and possesses excellent listening and customer service skills. The individual must have exceptional product knowledge, negotiation and good analytical skills. The individual must be able to work independently and in a team environment. Must have experience with Microsoft Office and the Web. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred but not required. A business degree is preferred but not required.
