JOB SUMMARY:
Process Safety Management Engineer is needed for a Magna employer. Will be responsible for providing leadership and compliance oversight with Process Safety Management. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Develops and implements management systems, procedures and process improvements as needed to ensure continuous improvement in all OSHA, PSM, and EPA RMP regulations. * Routinely audits all PSM elements to ensure compliance and identify improvements and best practices. Identifies/secures necessary resources needed and leads the effort to close gaps. * Oversight to Management of Change Program * Serves as subject matter expert and conducts training regarding PSM fundamentals, procedures, and requirements. * Leads, facilitates or participates in site incident investigations to determine root causes of incidents, especially those that are considered PSM in nature. Provides incident investigation training. * Directs risk assessment techniques to include Process Hazard Analysis, Layers of Protection Analysis, Process Control and Safety Instrumented Systems. Reviews and recommends risk evaluation methods for new projects. * Advises engineering/operations during reviews of proposed projects to understand and plan for potential implications. Acts as source for engineering standards and industry loss prevention standards. * Contributor and oversight to mechanical integrity program, equipment is inspected per code timing requirements. * Implement continuous improvement program to schedule inspections that practice incident prevention * Provide specific PSM training to operations-especially hazard recognition * Work with Process Engineering to manage, maintain and improve chemical processes and mitigate risk for the plant. * Oversight of PSM/Contractor program. * Establish and maintain a professional and consistent work environment to help ensure Salt Lake City remains a viable and healthy facility and provides a satisfactory work environment. * Maintain a safe, clean and secure work environment. Actively support and interact in monthly and/or plant refresher safety training using available resources and prescribed goals to determine and subsequently help eliminate actual and potential safety issues, unsafe acts and/or conditions to preclude accidents, to keep Hexcel employees safe, and to achieve the Department/Plant and/or Corporate Safety goals and objectives. Qualifications: * BS degree in a chemical engineering or technical field with 7-10 years of process safety experience in chemical operations from a manufacturing environment. * Working knowledge on the MOC/Pre-Startup Safety Review process; inspection/test procedures used to assess vessels, tanks, piping and heat exchangers. * Knowledge of environmental issues, safety, and code compliance (PSM, NFPA, ASME, ANSI, API, ISA). * Experience in incident investigation, including root cause analysis. * Familiarity with process design, process simulation, and chemical process operation (multiple processes); startup and commissioning of chemical process units, conducting presentations and training; technical writing, particularly operating instructions and procedures; maintaining technical documentation. * Must be a team player that is self-motivated and capable of managing multiple tasks. * Must be able to work through others to accomplish goals. * Excellent written and communication skills. * Ability to interface with governmental agencies, trade associations, management, union leadership and inspection contractors. * Experience in process safety design within a chemical manufacturing complex. * Knowledge of process safety hazards? analysis and risk assessment methodologies necessary to lead the risk assessments, hazard identification/evaluation studies, hazard operability studies, consequence analysis, and layers of protection analysis.
