JOB SUMMARY:
Adjunct Faculty - Medical Billing Coding Description: Faculty members are committed to upholding the mission of the College by providing the highest level of instruction, demonstrating a commitment to student success, and providing learning opportunities consistent with the EGCG Statement of Teaching Effectiveness and Faculty Competencies. Faculty members are expected to support and uphold the College's policies and procedures. Faculty members play a critical role in the campus retention management program. All new EGCG faculty members shall receive an orientation and training. All faculty participate in professional development opportunities as EGCG instructors. Duties: 1. As a new faculty member participate in EGCG New Faculty Orientation and Training program, including participation in the EGCG Faculty Mentor Program. 2. Teach courses as assigned by the Program Director and Director of Academic Affairs. 3. Apply teaching concepts consistent with the EGCG Statement of Teaching Effectiveness and Faculty Competencies. 4. Teach to course learning objectives as mapped in the approved course syllabus. 5. Create a safe and welcoming learning environment and get to know every student by name the first day/week of classes. 6. Begin class on time and end on time in the designated space and provide an entire period of instruction for each class. 7. Deliver learning to ensure that students have had an opportunity to master course competencies as described in the course syllabus. 8. Uphold College criteria and standards for grading student work. 9. Prepare daily lessons and learning activities for each class session applying teaching competencies as described in the EGCG Statement of Teaching Effectiveness and Faculty Competencies. 10. Model professional behavior 11. Make first contact with absent students in a caring, professional way. 12. Cooperate with his/her Program Director on classroom observations and coaching plans. 13. On a daily basis immediately report students at risk to the Program Director. 14. Let Program Director know right away if a need for support with instructional delivery. 15. Participate in student success plans for students struggling in his/her course, with any needed guidance from the Program Director. 16. Keep accurate attendance records, posting attendance in the portal and submitting attendance rosters to the Academic Department for each class period in a timely manner. 17. Compile, administer, and grade all assignments and examinations in a timely manner and return all items gathered from students. 18. Turn in final grades for all courses taught by the time designated by the Registrar and the Director of Academic Affairs 19. Assure that classroom or laboratory is left clean and orderly at the end of each class period 20. Partner with all other campus departments to help students access needed resources; for example, Student Services, Career Services, and Financial Services. 21. Participate in faculty meetings and in-services. 22. Perform other duties designated by the Program Director and Director of Academic Affairs Qualifications: A minimum of 4+ years of work experience and readily available certifications are required. Diploma/ Associate degree in Medical Billing Coding is preferred. Must have the ability to read, understand and carry out instructions in English in written and oral form. A passion for learning and continuing education. A command of theory and contemporary technical knowledge and continuing study in their particular field. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit. The associate is frequently required to talk and hear. The associate is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
