JOB SUMMARY:
Supporting testing and development of electromechanical systems for product development of a Stirling generator in Solar Concentrator Program: Strong knowledge of data acquisition systems and software. Work with design responsible engineers to design, build, and assemble test setups. Coordinate with test and development lead to select and procure instrumentation to ensure results are within desired uncertainty limits. Perform routine calibrations of power, temperature, flow, pressure, load, and other supporting instrumentation. Write and execute test procedures and plans. Independently setup and troubleshoot electronics issues using design specifications, schematics, hands-on techniques, trouble tickets, and reference material. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including: instrumentation, data acquisition hardware, and test fixtures. Clearly communicate test and diagnostics results with other engineering team members in oral and written forms. Provide technical support for both bench testing and system field-testing. Provide supporting data and a trends for analysis Reporting Relationship: Assigned test and development engineer as specified by the Director of Operations Skills/Abilities/Knowledge: Required General aptitude with LabVIEW for data acquisition and controls General competence with circuits and high power generation/conversion circuits and assemblies. Able to read and understand technical drawings, datasheets, plus verbal and written work instructions. Highly motivated self-starter capable of working independently and in group settings. Organized and able to multi-task. Sufficient education and experience: Associates Degree with 5+ years of applicable experience or 10+ years of experience. Experience integrating mechanical and electrical subsystems. Knowledge of and hands-on experience implementing safe practices with high-power electronics and mechanical control systems. Must have initiative. Will work independently. Must possess a strong desire to learn. Desired Able to write test plans, test reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and communicate the situation to other skilled technical team members. Education/Experience: Required High School Diploma Authorization to work in U.S.A. Desired Associates degree (EET) with 4+ years experience preferred or comparable hands-on experience.
