JOB SUMMARY:

The Mammographer performs a variety of routine mammography related procedures by operating X ray equipment o make radiographs of designated areas. Job tasks and responsibilities include: Performs diagnostic radiologic testing specific to mammography including special views and needle localizations. Operates radiographic equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate. Positions patients, using immobilization when necessary. Calculates exposure factors. Assist physicians. Performs the quality control functions related to mammography. Evaluates radiographs for diagnostic quality obtaining additional images as needed. Prepares and sets up medical supplies using aseptic techniques if appropriate. Explains procedures and provides education to patients and family members. Develops mammography film. Maintains appropriate records. Orients and mentors staff. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Qualifications Job qualifications include: Successful completion of an accredited Radiology or Medical Imaging program required. Must have current ARRT certification with advanced certification in Mammography. Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider required. Previous experience as a Mammographer preferred. Customer service abilities including effective listening skills. Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment. Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.
