Blendtec is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer I that understands and effectively uses engineering principles and tools to research, design, evaluate, and maintain product lines and manufacturing processes. We need someone who takes personal responsibility for projects with guidance from senior engineers and engineering management. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned) ? Analyzes manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancements of quality, cost reduction, and throughput. Designs and develops manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes, and new products, and related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with zero defect level and low product cost. ? Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness. ? Determine manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information required to facilitate production processes. ? Design testing methods and test finished products or process capabilities to establish standards or validate process requirements. ? Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods. ? Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts ? Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential. ? Collaborates with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods. ? Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards. ? Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions. ? Creates and maintains accurate documentation of tool drawings, design concepts, shop orders, and concepts in accordance with the RD and quality assurance functions. ? Providing engineering support in production department to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems. ? Supporting company policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and goods manufacturing practices.
