JOB SUMMARY:
Job Summary: The Research Scientist/Manager is responsible for the research, design, and implementation of new technologies and methodologies. The person in this position must be familiar with the capabilities of our products in order to help improve products to meet company objectives and market needs. They must be able to interface with staff members in team discussions and activities on transforming our technology expertise into viable products. The Research Scientist will have in depth knowledge of the capabilities of our manufacturing methods as well as other related methods, and creatively work with them to adapt those methods to expand our business into new products and markets. Essential Functions: 1. Provide expertise and guidance to the Research group towards creating new technologies and enhancing our manufacturing capabilities 2. Manage projects from design through to the initial technical phase, including demonstration of technology capability 3. Work cross-functionally with the technical, marketing, and manufacturing groups to understand where and how new technologies and approaches can enhance Moxtek's product lines Management Responsibilities: 1. Manage the Research group within the Optics Technology organization 2. Manage projects related to research within the Technology organization Education and Experience: 1. Advanced engineering or science degree 2. 10 years in semiconductor processing 3. Excellent knowledge of semiconductor processes, including lithography, RIE etch, vacuum thin film deposition (including ALD) of metals and dielectrics, including innovative and creative approaches to applying these methods 4. Experience managing technical groups Competencies: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position. 1. Be a self-starter, identifying problems and finding and implementing solutions 2. Work well with groups of diverse individuals 3.
