JOB SUMMARY:
Accountant Location: Catholic Community Services of Utah, 745 East 300 South, SLC, Utah 84102 Status: Full-time, non-exempt Salary: $14.50/hour; $15.00 after 90 days and completion of introductory period Job Description: Catholic Community Services has a wonderful opportunity for an Accountant to provide support to the Finance Director. This position is responsible for data entry and completion of Accounts Payable, Payroll Data Entry and Liabilities, Deposits, Bus Passes, and Month End Reports. This position is also responsible for supporting the Finance Director in the Budgeting Process, General Ledger Review process, and Accounts Receivable Reconciliation. Responsibilities include: Weekly 1. Prepare daily deposit reconciliation and master deposits. 2. Accounts payable data entry, print checks, attach checks to backup, get signatures and distribute checks. 3. Weekly filing. 4. Maintain Petty Cash Box. Bi-Monthly 1. Enter employee payroll information from the Maintenance File, do Payroll Data Entry, prepare Payroll Liability Check Requests and reports, and maintain all payroll files. 2. All payroll information is to remain strictly confidential between the HR Director, the Finance Director, and the Contract Compliance Director. Monthly 1. Order, distribution, and reconciliation of bus passes. 2. Retrieve copier meter readings. 3. Prepare accounts payable month end reports ? postage, mileage, copier, printing. 4. Enter A/P month end report journal entries into Accufund. 5. Reconcile Petty Cash Box Expenditures. 6. Enter Accounts Receivables, Maintain outstanding A/R ledger and follow up calls if needed. 7. Prepare Financials for Program Directors and Administrative Directors. 8. Enter Automatic Deposits and Withdrawals from Bank Statements 9. Payroll Checking Account Reconciliation. Randomly 1. Prepare budgets as needed by Development and Program Directors. 2. Prepare Grant EOY reports for Development. 3. Update Inventory. 4. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills, knowledge and abilities: 1. Applicant must have a background in General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable work and a degree in accounting. 2. Proficiency in Excel required. 3. Experience in Computer Accounting Software. 4. Ability to work accurately and quickly with a minimum of supervision 5. Physical abilities include sitting, hearing, seeing, typing, talking, writing, walking, reaching, holding, and ten key by touch 6. Mental abilities include knowledge of grammar, spelling, understanding of verbal and written instructions and time management. 7. Able to maintain pleasant/professional working relationships with staff. Education, training and or experience: 1. Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting or two to three years on-the-job experience with an Associate?s Degree in Accounting. 2. Experience working with nonprofit accounting software a plus. 3. Knowledge of accounting principles for not-for-profit corporations a plus.
