University of Utah Health Care seeks staff that are committed to the values of compassion, collaboration, innovation, responsibility, diversity, integrity, quality and trust that are integral to our mission.    This position is responsible for repairing, maintaining, calibrating, safety tests, and providing hospital staff with technical support for patient care, clinical, communications and miscellaneous equipment.    This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.    Responsibilities:    - Troubleshoots, repairs, overhauls, services, and maintains electronic and mechanical medical, clinical, communications, and laboratory equipment including patient monitors, paging systems, life support equipment, electrocardiograph equipment, ventilators and respiratory equipment, and pace makers; installs and repairs equipment following manufacturerapos;s instructions and department safety precautions.  - Responds to trouble calls from personnel in assigned areas; may make recommendations regarding appropriate courses of action or resolution of equipment related issues.  - Performs regularly scheduled preventive maintenance work on patient care systems and equipment in assigned departments or areas; maintains a log of repairs, electrical safety testing, and maintenance actions; keeps accurate records of time and materials utilized in the performance of these duties.  - Utilizes and maintains a variety of test and calibration equipment including oscilloscopes, multi-meters, frequency counters, physiological signal simulators, power supplies and special test instrumentation.  - Orders and maintains proper stock levels in the departmentapos;s inventory; stores department goods and equipment in an appropriate manner; appropriately responds to manufacturersapos; equipment recall notices.  - Participates in on-the-job training to advance and acquire new skills regarding sophisticated and specialized electronic equipment.  - Maintains and updates a database of repair and technical support information required to perform repairs on a variety of equipment.  - May ensure that equipment meets all regulatory compliance requirements mandated by local, state and federal agencies.  - May assist the department in testing new equipment and working with vendors to make purchases and install equipment.  - May assist in designing, modifying, and installing mechanical or electrical alterations to new and existing equipment in order to improve efficiency, performance, and/or extend the life of hospital equipment.    Knowledge / Skills / Abilities    - Demonstrated potential ability to perform the essential functions as outlined above.  - Demonstrated customer service, human relations and effective communication skills.    Qualifications:    Required    - Five years experience in electronics, a related area or equivalency.  - Computer network
