JOB SUMMARY:
Position Summary: This position supports the product creation process for Black Diamond Equipment specifically focusing on packs, harnesses, tents, gloves and gaiters. The Development Coordinator will work closely with the design and development team to execute product drawings, specification pack requirements and technical communication tools to support the seasonal design, development and commercialization process. They will also work closely with internal document control to manage and drive accuracy of tech packs and timely completion of all product specifications. 1. Responsible for the creation, proper and timely maintenance of all required development documentation as specified by the Director of Global Sourcing and Development. 2. Responsible for the creation of detailed construction and fit drawings and communication as defined by the designer and developer for the product. 3. Is authorized and responsible to identify potential resource/priority conflicts/problems and escalate them to the Director of Global Sourcing and Development for resolution with all internal and external customers. 4. Is responsible for the complete transition of finalized TP's to the appropriate production staff for both sample and bulk production ordering in accordance to the company timeline and objectives. 5. May be requested to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job related duties, subject to all applicable state and federal laws Qualifications: Education Required: Bachelor's Degree of Arts and/or Science and/or Product Design and/or Development and/or graphic design. Work Experience Required: 1 year of development or design experience in technical soft good products such as: backpacks, ski gloves, safety harnesses, tents or luggage. In addition, experience in graphic design and layout, document management, and use of computer illustration tools and techniques. Skills and General Experience: Basic understanding of global manufacturing enterprises combined with the leadership traits and communication skills required to manage individual deliverables in a team environment. Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Excel and other publishing tools is a must. Strong teamwork, collaboration and communication skills are mandatory. Thorough knowledge of MS office tools required. Must be able to use the product in the field and provide critical feedback on product function. Alternative qualification: Alternative to Education qualification: A Bachelor's degree in any discipline combined with a thorough global knowledge base and work experience in technical softgoods design, illustration and development. Or an associate's degree in graphic design with a minimum of 4 years work experience. Required licenses: Valid passport and drivers' license. Required ability to travel: Must be willing to travel within the contiguous United States of America (USA), as well as, abroad to work with suppliers, contractors, and others.
