Requisition Number 12-0690 Post Date 10/29/2012 Title Director Pharma Dx Work Hours 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Work Schedule Monday - Friday (40 hrs/wk) Department New Technology - 511 City Salt Lake City State UT Description General Function a The Director of the PharmaDx subdivision of the New Technology Groupis responsible for the coordination of ARUPA??s diagnostic partnership programs with pharmaceutical companies within the New Technology Group.aThe Director works independently designing effective workflow management policies with multiple partners including internal business divisions, pharmaceutical companies, laboratory divisions, FDA and regulatory agencies, and technical scientific staff. The Director develops staff and delegates responsibilities, and implements best practices in research and clinical lab environments. aReporting Function a This positionis reports to the VP, Oncology Product Dev., New Technology Group.aFor day-to-day responsibilities, this position may consult with the Dir. of the New Technology Group, CMO, Dir. of Labs, Sr. VP, Dir, Technical Ops, VP, Dir. Compliance amp; Quality, as well as ARUP Medical Directors, Division and Group Managers. aEssential Functions a Administrative a 1.aaaaaPromotes and coordinates relationships with diverse pharmaceutical partners, collaborators and internal divisions. 2.aaaaaCoordinates and administers PharmaDx project activities with New Technology Group project manager, laboratory scientist and project coordinator. 3.aaaaaCoordinates PharmaDx activities with multiple ARUP divisions, including Lab Operations, Compliance and Quality Systems, Information Technology, Research and Development. 4.aaaaaDevelops pharmaceutical project proposals, including technical descriptions of scope of work and itemized budgets. 5.aaaaaDistributes invoices to pharma companies and oversee on-time payment. 6.aaaaaAssists New Technology Group leaders with review of pharmaceutical contracts. 7.aaaaaManages confidentiality agreements with pharma companies. 8.aaaaaDevelops and oversees internal operational budgets, policies, and procedures for the PharmaDx group with an eye toward maintaining appropriate staffing and capital equipment capacity to fulfill pharma company requirements. 9.aaaaaSupervises PharmaDx staff, including a Quality System Project Manager. 10.aDemonstrated proficiency with electronic and printed reference materials. 11.aDevelops metrics by which the PharmaDx group can be measured; provide regular reports including an accurate accounting of revenues and expenses. 12.aWhen requested, participates in the recruitment, selection, training, and assessment of the performance of PharmaDx and staff and consultants, including but not limited to, selection and performance assessment. a Research and Development a 1.aaaaaDevelops proficiency in conceptualizing, developing and validating prospective laboratory assays by data mining, attendance at seminars, conferences and national meetings, together with regular interactions with ARUP staff and consultants. 2.aaaaaTogether with Medical Directors, Ramp;D staff and Lab Operations, constructs plans for new laboratory test development and validation on behalf of pharma. 3.aaaaaWorks with the New Technology Group Project Manager and lab personnel to oversee the execution new test development. 4.aaaaaArranges for the procurement of essential capital equipment and clinical specimens required for pharma projects. 5.aaaaaMaintains open and effective communication with ARUP medical directors and the Department of Pathology. a Marketing a 1.aaaaaIdentifies prospective clients in the pharmaceutical industry. 2.aaaaaDevelops sales and marketing tools to promote the addition of new pharma clients and bring new projects to existing relationships. 3.aaaaaEstimates s
