JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision, EHS Engineer assures proactive compliance with federal, state and local environmental and occupational safety regulatory requirements trough creation, implementation and auditing for compliance-related Policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and administration of assigned programs in coordination with other functional areas. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION - Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organizationamp;apos;s policies, procedures, and state, federal and local laws. - Translates Corporate EHS Policies into compliance-related standard operating procedures; creates, promotes and administers Environmental Health amp;amp; Safety (EHS) related programs. - Performs accident investigations and enters findings into approved RXEHS database. Makes recommendations to management for consideration and implementation resulting in abatement of the hazardous condition. - Establishes and administers Compliance Auditing Internal Program(s) for internal and contracted activities and maintains routine hazardous identification inspections. - Assures the facilities are in compliance with Federal, State and Local Environmental Health amp;amp; Safety (EHS) requirements. - Represents site to outside regulatory agencies on EHS related matters. - Determines whether Health amp;amp; Safety of any employee is considered to be amp;quot;in sufficiently eminent dangeramp;quot; to shut down any operation within the company. - Reviews construction plans, new processes, new chemicals and new equipment for EHS related compliance; advises on necessary actions required to meet compliance objectives and insure optimum EHS practices are integrated with all facility changes. - Determines actions needed to comply with existing or proposed safety and health standards, loss prevention codes and environmental protection requirements. - Interacts with insurance and loss prevention representatives, including, but not limited to, workersamp;apos; compensation and casualty insurance. - Interacts with Human Resources, Distribution, Security, Maintenance and other management teams to review, discuss and implement related EHS programs. Including but not limited to: safe transportation of product, facility security/safety, site inspections, contractor activities, facility changes, etc. - In a timely fashion, coordinates and conducts all applicable training related to new or existing site SOPamp;apos;s and corporate policies. - Identifies other training requirements to enhance the overall EHS programs as related to site activities, i.e., safe lifting, fire protection, first aid response, transportation activities, etc. - Responsible to create and lead site safety committee and site EHS Leadership Council. Participates in monthly corporate conference calls to review current status, goal alignment and priorities.
