JOB SUMMARY:
The Laboratory Education Coordinator II acts as a resource, consultant, and mentor to technical laboratory staff and participates with the Laboratory Education Team in the development and implementation of a standardized training and competency assessment program in their assigned technical laboratory department(s). Responsibilities include participation in the lab NEO program, oversight and coordination of new employee and student training, competency assessment and retraining / reassessment of technical laboratory staff.    This position is a part of the Laboratory Education Team and assigned laboratory department(s). Oversight includes all regional hospital laboratories.    1. Ensures quality training of Medical Laboratory Scientists, Medical Lab Technicians, and other technical laboratory staff by adhering to defined training standards, supporting standardization, embracing team vision, etc., coordinates and presents education and training programs when necessary in response to implementation of new processes / procedures and changing organizational needs within technical laboratory staff, and assigns and tracks assessments and other required training tracked through Plateau and My Learning and manages delinquent reports including notification to department supervisors.    2. Travels to facilities within assigned region, as needed, and may function as a facilitator, liaison, mentor and/or motivator, and lends functional expertise and acts as a resource as needed with regard to technical laboratory staff.    3. Assists in the development and implementation of standardized documentation, training and competency assessment to support process improvement and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and acts as a resource, consultant, mentor and coach to staff within department(s).    4. Coordinates and oversees training and competency assessment of Medical Laboratory Scientist students and new employees, assesses learning needs and identifies competency gaps within the department and defines outcomes and retraining to address these needs, and verifies and documents competency assessment after retraining is complete.    5. Responsible to work with supervisors, as necessary, to report behavioral issues and enforce facility policy regarding attendance, dress code, cell phone use, and other facility protocols and provides performance feedback to the appropriate supervisor / manager.    Part time, 32 hours per week - Monday - Friday, 4 days per week, variable dayshift. May be required to perform functions on other shifts occasionally.    Starting salary: $22.13/hr - benefits eligible.    Minimum Requirements    Bachelor s Degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory / medical technology science. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.    Medical Technologist / Medical Lab Scientist certification or equivalent certification as approved by Manager and Human Resources. Certification must be maintained to remain in job.    Two years experience in a laboratory setting.    Demonstrated expertise in relevant areas of the clinical laboratory.    Demonstrated leadership mentoring and coaching ability.    Demonstrated ability to use laboratory systems, databases, and spreadsheets.    Physical Requirements    Hearing/Listening, Manual dexterity, Seeing, Speaking    Please Note  All positions subject to close without notice  Intermountain Healthcare is an equal opportunity employer M/F/D/V
