LEAD Electronics Technician

JOB SUMMARY:
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains and repairs electronic instruments and equipment, including mass spectrometers, components and measuring devices, and custom turn-key systems. Recommends changes in circuitry or component installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance. Provides customer support and education, working with users to identify needs, determines sources of problems and provides information on product use. Writes repair reports and records test data. Reads blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions for assembling electronics units, applying knowledge of electronic theory and components Due to the nature of the vacuum and leak test instrumentation and systems, work typically requires the lead technician to apply technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. Examples of such problems include determining the location and size of leaks, materials defects and isolating malfunctions using system integration knowledge. Plans, prioritizes, directs and organizes day to day activities in the Service area. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE Associate of Applied Science college degree in electronics technology or equivalent experience obtained in related fields. Minimum of two (2) years work experience in a related field. KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS Knowledge of the methods, materials, and tools used in the construction and repair of electrical and electronic equipment. Knowledge of the operation and uses of electronic testing equipment. Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and wiring diagrams. Knowledge of pneumatics, electro-mechanical components, digital and analog circuits. Highly motivated, self-starter, capable of working independently as well as in team settings. Well organized and able to multi-task. Have good verbal and written communications skills. Have good planning, organizational and managerial skills Knowledge of vacuum technology, Spanish language and good business background are very desirable but not required
