JOB SUMMARY:
Mechanical Department Manager Location: salt lake city, UT Employment Type: Full Time Department: FW Utah - 13085 Description: Serves as the in-house expert in mechanical engineering for a wide variety of large engineering / design / construction projects in the Refining, Chemical, and Thermal Treatment industries. Experience in the design and specification of systems and equipment for these processes is required. Primary responsibility is the management and supervision of a group of mechanical engineers and designers (including piping designers). Requires extensive and comprehensive knowledge in mechanical engineering and the ability to apply this knowledge in the preparation of products and services provided to our clients as part of our technically complex engineering assignments. Applies advanced theories and develops new methods, techniques and solutions for difficult problems. Serves as a technical expert in meetings with customers and vendors. Manages department resources to ensure the successful completion of large and/or technically complex engineering projects. Travels to project meetings and job sites, as necessary. (Minimal travel required) Must be familiar with all necessary codes, standards and regulations to ensure project deliverables are in compliance with all pertinent requirements. Duties: amp;bull; Supervises the preparation of proposal and contract design calculations, drawings and other engineering documentation using standard methods and proven procedures, computer tools and/or new analytical methods, as required amp;bull; Supervises the preparation and issuing of contract information (CI) sheets, BEDD sheets, reports and other engineering documentation based on results of analytical work amp;bull; Responsible for the technical quality of the work performed by subordinates. Reviews and approves engineering documentation for compliance with CI/BEDD sheets and distributes the information to the Project/Proposal Manager amp;bull; Serves as a staff expert and in-house consultant. Continuously reviews and improves designs and engineering standards based on technology developments and operating experience amp;bull; Conducts design reviews and comments on the organizationapos;apos;s designs before they are proposed and during contract execution, as directed amp;bull; Assures that component and system designs are cost effective, high in quality, and compliant with standards and good engineering practices, while meeting customer requirements amp;bull; Reviews drawings and other engineering documentation for compliance with CI/BEDD sheet requirements, codes and standards amp;bull; Prepares or supervises the preparation of technical specifications for purchased equipment amp;bull; Prepares or supervises the preparation of technical evaluations of supplierapos;apos;s proposals amp;bull; Performs and coordinates engineering activities to be on schedule and under budget amp;bull; Coordinates and interfaces with equipment suppliers to ensure compliance with technical requirements Essential Job Functions Under Certain Circumstances: amp;bull; Provides technical support and expertise in meetings with customers, A/Eapos;apos;s, vendors and others, as requested amp;bull; Provides technical guidance to other engineers, as needed amp;bull; May serve as an individual contributor or may plan, assign, coordinate, and review work of other engineers, depending on the scope of a particular project amp;bull; Performs other related duties as assigned by management Qualifications: amp;bull; Balances team and individual responsibilities while working effectively and efficiently amp;bull; Works and communicates effectively with subordinates, customers, vendors, other technical disciplines, and the organizations project management team amp;bull; Excellent written and oral skills amp;bull; Effective presentation skills amp;bull; Understands both the technical and commercial aspects of the organizationapos;ap
