Over The Road Driver

JOB SUMMARY:
Over the Road Driver is needed for a Salt Lake employer. Duties and Responsibilities: * Responsible for operating various tractor-trailer combinations (53 ft, 48 ft, 28 ft, Doubles and Triples) for extended periods of time, over long distances between company/customer facilities. * Maneuver tractor-trailer in tight spaces, dropping and hooking, operating landing gear, and backing into shipping/unloading docks and confined spaces. * Perform tractor and trailer inspections and complete all required paperwork to include the Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports daily. * Abide by all laws pertaining to Hours of Service Regulations and be able to maintain driver's log. * Abide by all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR). * Carry out instructions given orally and in writing, including those on manifest, bills of lading and other shipping documents to determine the location and time of delivery. * Communicate with Dispatch / Operations frequently in order to advise of movements, problems with equipment, delays, accidents, and to receive future assignments and schedule. * When necessary perform other duties as assigned. Requirements: * Must be 23 years or older for insurance purposes. * Posses a CDL A License from one state only. * Minimum of 3 years full-time verifiable like type including tractor-trailer. * Pass a Drug Test - No positive Drug or Alcohol Test. Pass pre-employment background check. * Work in outdoor environment. * Must be able to climb in and out of truck cab repeatedly, sit for prolonged periods of time and occasionally stoop, bend and crouch. * Will be able to stay out overnight when required. * Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and be able to unload and load product as required. * Must be able to pass a road test and perform all safety functions per the Federal Motor Carrier Guidelines. *Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language sufficiently enough to perform the duties. * Previous knowledge of the trucking industry and FMCSR a plus. * Ability to perform with minimal supervision. Accountability: * Represent the company as a professional. *Complete all necessary paperwork related to the duties and responsibilities defined herein. * Perform all duties in accordance with company policies, shared values and procedures. * Comply with all Federal, State and local regulations. Wages will be discussed with the employer.
