JOB SUMMARY:
Process Safety Engineer needed for a Salt Lake City employer. Provide engineering support for refinery's process safety program to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Provides technical guidance/assistance with hazard identification, risk assessment and development and implementation of risk mitigation solutions. Key Responsibilities: * Develops and maintains refinery's process safety management (PSM) program ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards (OSHA Process Safety Management, EPA Risk Management Program). Advises on interpretation and application of standards. * Provides engineering support and technical guidance/assistance on application of process safety technology in areas such as facility siting modeling, portable building placement, PHA (process hazard analysis), MOC (management of change). Develops and maintains refinery's process safety information such as, but not limited to, chemical compatibility matrixes, safe upper and lower operating limits and consequences of deviations, materials of construction, relief system design, safety system documentation. * Stewards refinery's risk reduction efforts driving improvement and consistency in application of standards. Facilitates site's development and completion of risk assessments. Supports capital projects in areas of design consulting and technical quality assurance. * Analyzes refinery's safety incident and near miss performance utilizing risk assessment methodologies and risk quantification tools, such as, but not limited to FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis), RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis), LOPA (Layer of Protection Analysis). Develops reports, communicates results and advocates risk-based solutions. * Develops and delivers on process safety management topics such as, but not limited to, risk assessment, process safety in design, safe operating practices. REQUIRED SKILLS: Education and Experience: Minimum undergraduate chemical engineering degree required. Minimum 5 years engineering experience in process safety management, risk management or PHA/LOPA facilitation in refining, petrochemical or chemical industries. Employer will arrange work schedule. Salary is negotiable depending on qualifications.
