JOB SUMMARY:
Position Summary: By utilizing engineering fundamentals, previous work experience in a manufacturing operation, and knowledge from real-world field experience, assists in the creation and maintenance of quality assurance models for raw materials, sub-assemblies and finished products, as well as overseeing and performing the required inspection and testing. Conducts statistical and graphical analysis of test and inspection data and provides recommended actions. Creates and improves inspection and testing systems and methods to ensure product quality. Provides technical support and product-user insight and feedback for the Quality Engineering, Product Design Development, Supply Chain Management, and Manufacturing Departments. Prepares, helps to maintain, and suggests improvements for inspection and testing systems. 1. Assist in creation, maintenance and ownership of critical inspection points and supporting documentation. 2. Responsible for investigation and analysis of quality issues/non conformities: design and perform root cause analysis, suggest corrective action and perform audits of quality records. 3. Collaborates closely with the Supply Chain Management on any corrective action for continued production. 4. Responsible for the assistance of establishing incoming, inline and final inspection protocols. 5. Providing info to Supply Chain Management pertaining to supplier charge backs. 6. Assist in the Tool/jig creation and validation for raw material, inline and final inspections. 7. Assist in the creation, evaluation and continued improvement of quality systems. 8. Assist in root cause analysis of field failures and circulate feedback to appropriate parties. 9. Perform, design, and investigate, raw material, work-in-process and final batch tests as directed by QA Manager. Provide suggestions for new and/or improved tests. 10. Assist in the creation and maintenance activity of PFMEA and Product Control Plans for all in-house manufactured products. Qualifications: Education Required: Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial or Materials Science). Preferred: Bachelor's degree in one of above with advanced course work in statistical analysis and Quality Assurance. Work Experience Required: Two to five years engineering experience in a manufacturing operation. Preferred: Two to five years experience in a quality assurance capacity preferably in a manufacturing environment. Design and theory of manufacturing and quality systems, testing, inspection and measurement methods. Skills and General Experience: Required: General knowledge of strength of materials and failure analysis. General database (Access), word processing, and spreadsheet knowledge. Ability to read and implement technical procedures and government regulations. Must have working knowledge of quality assurance methods, including PFMEA and product control plans, as well as relevant test and inspection procedures. Ability to collect and present data, identify trends, suggest recommended actions and effectively communicate both in written verbal forms. Must be able to travel internationally. Must be an active outdoors-person partaking in activities such as backpacking, fast packing, trail running, rock, ice, alpine climbing or mountaineering and skiing. Preferred: All of above plus Strong SPC background, Industrial Engineering experience, and experience with ISO 9001. Alternative qualification: Two to five years experience in a manufacturing quality assurance testing statistical analysis in a lab or similar testing setting.
