JOB SUMMARY:
Staff Industrial Hygienist As a Staff Industrial Hygienist with Terracon you will perform duties related to industrial hygiene, indoor air quality, and mold, asbestos and lead inspections including oversight of abatement projects. You will also evaluate respective data, prepare proposals and reports, and take part in other environmental consulting projects. The person would be required to possess appropriate inspector licenses and/or certifications; experience will be a strong plus. General Responsibilities: The successful candidate will perform building inspections, field surveys, indoor air monitoring, safety training, construction project oversight, and will document daily project activities and produce written technical reports for clients. This job will require evaluating operations that involve a variety of hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead, solvents, welding fumes, and acids. After training and a reasonable period of experience, you must be able to conduct independent research to devise solutions to safety and health problems identified during field work. The technician must also be able to efficiently produce technical reports that require minimal editing. Essential Functions and Duties: Using prescribed methods performs specific assignments. May work in the office, lab or in the field. The collection and analysis of data from sampling, reports, drawings, tests and interviews to evaluation, plan and permit projects. Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results and follow operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes. Performs other office, laboratory or field studies and duties that may be assigned by more senior level professional staff or the Office Manager. Outlines the required investigative program(s) by selecting the proper of various alternative techniques to conduct site study in his/her field of expertise. Assists in compiling the scope of work for both routine and more complex lab or field investigations to measure and sample physical and non-physical properties to evaluate exposure levels and hazardous materials present in a building including suspect asbestos-containing materials, lead paint/coatings, microbial amplification, indoor air quality and industrial hygiene. Safety Responsibilities: - Complete safety orientation program - Abide by safety and personal protective equipment policies - Demonstrate safe work practices and avoid unsafe behaviors - Drive defensively, avoids preventable accidents and always wears a seat belt - Attend regularly scheduled safety training - Report all unsafe conditions to your Supervisor Other Duties: - Will perform other duties as assigned.
