Academy Mortgage Corporation is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our growing team, headquartered in Sandy, Utah. Role The Accounts Payable Specialist processes payments to vendors and scans all original documents related to payments to vendors into the appropriate accounting system; generates and updates Accounts Payable month end reports; maintains property tax records, and monitors escrow accounts for property tax payment due dates; and, enters data concerning 1099 vendors into the appropriate accounting system, and runs 1099 reports. This position also assists Academy Mortgage employees with policy and procedure questions as they relate to Accounts Payable. Major Duties and Responsibilities ? Processes vendor payments, scans all original documents related to vendor payments into the appropriate accounting system, and maintains vendor payment files, both paper and electronic. ? Maintains property tax records, and monitors escrow accounts for property tax due dates. ? Generates and updates Accounts Payable month end reports. ? Enters data into the appropriate accounting system for 1099 vendors, and runs reports. ? Cuts checks, including rent checks, and "rush checks," by established department deadlines. ? Enters data into the appropriate accounting system for credit card charges by established department deadlines. ? Prepares timely month end reports. ? Sends 1099 forms to vendors and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) prior to the required deadlines. ? Generates and verifies the accuracy and completeness of the 1099 report every quarter. ? Assists employees with Accounts Payable policy and procedure questions. Requirements ? High school diploma or equivalent is required ? Associate's degree is preferred ? 1+ years previous Accounting experience required ? Excellent attention to detail and accuracy ? Strong interpersonal skills ? Outstanding organizational skills ?
