JOB SUMMARY:
Senior Electrical Engineer is needed for a Salt Lake employer. The Electrical Engineer will lead external design and manufacturing firms to meet product testing needs of the organization, including developing test plans, methods, and test specifications based on functional and technical product specifications. Works collaboratively with Product Management and Engineering teams to identify design solutions to issues, ensure that all products receive passing grades before release. Design, implement, and improve the test infrastructure. Ensure that the test results are thorough and clear, so that sound decisions can be made. Candidate will be a key hands-on contributor in the product lifecycle. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Review and understand schematics and PCB layout, develop test scripts to perform product hardware and firmware testing to identify usability and design issues. * Work collaboratively with Product Management and Engineering teams during product development to provide inputs to product requirement and functional specifications. * Develop and/or evaluate test plans, test set ups, test fixtures (for manufacturing floor) and procedures to ensure systematic execution of testing plans. * Investigate new technologies and become a subject matter expert in all areas of responsibility. * Manage test planning process to efficiently use test equipment resources and meet project priorities. * Participate in design reviews to offer design solutions to failures and glitches uncovered during product testing. * Utilize standard industry root cause failure analysis processes to correctly identify design, materials, or process flaws and develop corrective actions. * Publish test results to provide reliable analyses and recommendations in a clear and brief manner that can be utilized for making sound engineering choices. * Continuously improve the efficiency and efficacy in test execution, data gathering, reporting and bug tracking. * Assist in the procurement of test equipment and commercial test software where applicable to support test requirements. * Work with all functional groups to ensure that lessons learned are captured and incorporated into new product designs and development processes. * Ensures quality throughout product lifecycles through good design, monitoring/reporting, risk identification and mitigation. * Must be able to manage multiple priorities and tasks in a dynamic work environment. * Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed. Qualifications, Education, and/or Experience: * BSEE required, MSEE or MEEE a plus. * Minimum 7 years professional experience in leading a consumer electronics design and/or QA Lab and test team. * Knowledge in use of various test instrumentation including oscilloscopes, multi-meters, audio analyzer, power supplies, loads, etc. * Ability to read and interpret product specifications and schematics. * Ability to conceive, design, and build test fixtures. * Ability to develop test software, including competence in NI Labview. * Experience with Wireless devices (Wi-Fi 802.11 and/or Bluetooh). * Experience with Network Communication (TCP, UDP, Socket, etc.). * Experience working with Linux and Android OS. * Experience working with audio and video hardware. * Experience in consumer audio systems design, quality analysis, and test. * Experience Wireline (POTS) or VoIP telephone product design or test. * Familiarity with scripting and programming languages (Java, C and C++). * Understanding of audio and video codecs a plus. * Experience with communication and managing offshore resources a plus.
