JOB SUMMARY:
Job Title: Sr. Claims Specialist - Construction Defect Job ID: 23191 Location: Nationwide Full/Part Time: Full-Time Regular/Temporary: Regular Perform work under the supervision of the Senior Claims Legal Manager. This position can be located in any QBE office. Manage a portfolio of assigned construction defect claims within QBE's Claims Handling Guidelines to provide efficient, effective, and reliable claims services, and to ensure timely resolution. Responsibilities include investigating a portfolio of construction defect claims, determining coverage, estimating damage, negotiating settlements and making recommendations on legal and coverage issues. Interprets and applies the insurance policy to the exposures presented within each assigned claim Identifies potential coverage issues and refers claims to Sr. Claims Legal Manager as needed Working within specific authority levels, conducts and coordinates loss investigations to gather accurate facts for disposition Evaluates and negotiates the resolution of claims within authority levels while mitigating damages to achieve cost effective claims outcomes Reviews and recommends changes to reserves on assigned claims to adequately address exposure Provides accurate and timely information to all internal and external stakeholders regarding claim status and other inquiries such as fraud, subrogation recovery, reserve adequacy and underwriting risks Refers immediately recognized exposures that require assist functions such as fraud, subrogation recovery, PIP/MP, etc. Creates and manages timely, clear and accurate documentation and work flow throughout the life of a claim in accordance with the Claims Handling Guidelines Applies a portfolio management approach to construction defect claims in litigation in an effort to actively manage total loss cost and provide superior claim outcomes Applies a proactive approach to resolution strategies and thinks differently in order to bring long tail construction defect claims to resolution Collaborates actively with counsel in the development and implementation of all facets of litigation strategy Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, in business, insurance or related field. In addition, required to complete Licensing exam and Continuing Education requirements in assigned jurisdictions. Minimum of 7 years relevant claims experience, including 4 years handling construction defect claims and other similar litigated claims, with demonstrated achievements and progressive responsibilities handling increasingly complex claims. Progress toward an insurance designation such as AIC/AIM/CPCU/SCLA programs. Skills, knowledge Abilities Must be able to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge/understanding and/or skill and ability related to the following: Knowledge of Construction Defect claims and related coverage issues Must have and maintain a valid driver's license Demonstrated ability to use a PC, the Microsoft Office Suite applications, and other applications relevant to the job Communicates in a clear and concise manner in oral and written communications Face-to-face meeting new people requires quickly establishing rapport, negotiating claims to resolution To apply for this position, click Apply Now.
