JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for verifying patient insurance benefits with insurance companies and documenting the information in the computer system. This includes updating information received from patients, employers, and physician offices in the computer system to ensure correct billing information is obtained prior to patient discharge. The incumbent will be responsible to obtain insurance eligibility and benefits information and obtain required authorizations for patients. The incumbent will also review all insurance eligibility responses and communicates with the patient and their physician as needed regarding these responses or to obtain correct information. This position works with Utilization Review staff to ensure authorizations cover services needed. The incumbent may also estimate cost of service and the patientsapos; responsibility, analyze and document the patientsapos; account history and refers patients with questionable insurance coverage to the Eligibility Counselors.    Variable shifts: Monday - Friday shifts start at 7:00am andend at 5:30.    Training for this position requires selected candidates to be available for 6 consecutive weekdays 12:00pm to 6:30pm. Additional training/ mentoring may also be required. Candidate must be available to attend all scheduled training.    Entry Rate: $11.54  Benefits Eligible: No  Shift Details: This is a PRN (as required) position with -0- guaranteed hours. Will be required to work a minimum of 40 hours per month.    Minimum Requirements    Must type30 WPM (words per minute) or higher    Must have two or more years customer service work experience    Must have excellent interpersonal, communication and telephone skills    Medical terminology (or within 6 months of hire)    Physical Requirements    Hearing/Listening, Seeing, Speaking, Sitting    Preferred Qualifications    Bilingual in English and Spanish    Admitting, billing, collection, and/or insurance verification experience    Previous hospital or physician office experience    Please Note  All positions subject to close without notice  Intermountain Healthcare is an equal opportunity employer M/F/D/V
