JOB SUMMARY:
The Facilities Specialist coordinates activities concerned with the maintenance of the building, grounds and equipment. This would include but not limited to HVAC, purified water systems, boilers and CDA. Responsibilities would also include the scheduling of preventative maintenance, response to urgent after hours maintenance calls and coordination of EHS activity. The position will operate under minimal site supervision and coordinate with Facilities and EHS management remotely. Responsibilities Manage the maintenance of facility equipment to ensure maximum uptime and service life. Maintain the appearance of all aspects of the building. Makes periodic or special inspections of the premise to determine repair work required. Will also coordinate any necessary repairs. Inspect facilities daily for hazardous conditions and ensure equipment is safe and ready to operate. Schedule preventative maintenance and respond to urgent maintenance calls. Manage / coordinate facility repairs, installations, small construction remodeling, grounds improvement, and maintenance projects. Ensures that spare parts list, equipment manuals and prints are up to date. Coordinating contracts for waste and trash disposal, recycling operations, grounds care, pest control and any other building/maintenance and EHS related contracts. Manage system to track and report building and equipment repair activity and preventative maintenance requirements. Maintain and update facility Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) records. Perform regular inspections of life safety equipment including fire extiguishers, emergency eyewash/showers, and spill response equipment. Make recommendations to the EHS Facilities Manager regarding improvements to the West Valley plant. Become familiar with state and local safety and health standards and assist in development of EHS programs. Participate in the creation of emergency preparedness and serve as the Emergency Response Team lead. Work together with the EHS Facilities Manager to ensure compliance with all governmental reporting requirements related to safety, environmental protection and health standards. Has the independence and authority to perform required tasks to ensure all provisions of the quality system are met. Perform related duties as assigned. Requirements At a minimum, must be a High School graduate or have a general education degree (GED), and 2-3 years of related work experience in facility maintenance, safety and compliance. Hands-on knowledge and experience with building plumbing, electrical, HVAC and other plant related equipment. Must be able to read and interpret documents such as business procedures, safety rules, parts manuals, operating and maintenance instructions. Prepare routine reports and communicate effectively to peers and management. Ability to use MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point) and Internet to perform research and retrieve EHS information with proficiency is required. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written, or diagram/flowchart form and deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations. Ability to sit, stand, walk and climb as required to perform daily work duties such as safety inspections etc.
