THIS IS AN EXPEDITED HIRING AUTHORITY ANNOUNCEMENT. The Duncan Hunter National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) FY 2009 provides that the Secretary of Defense can designate acquisition positions as shortage positions and recruit and appoint highly qualified persons to these positions. This announcement is open to accept resumes from candidates interested in helping the Department of the Navy meet our mission requirements for the acquisition of systems, equipment and facilities. This position is interdisciplinary, and may be filled as a General Engineer (0801), Physicist (1310), or Operations Research (1515), or Mathematics (1520), or Computer Scientist (1550) depending upon the qualifications of the incumbents. These are System Safety Engineer/Scientist positions at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, located in Dahlgren, Virginia. The Systems Safety Engineering Division is responsible for providing independent system safety support to Program Managers during conceptualization, design, development, testing, fleet introduction, and operation of engagement systems, combat systems, and platforms.
