AMENDMENT - THIS VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT IS BEING AMENDED TO EXTEND THE CLOSING DATE FROM 1/31/14 TO 2/7/14

These positions are located in the Division of Interpretation at the George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP), in McLean, Virginia.

GWMP preserves the natural scenery along the Potomac River.  It connects the historic sites from Mount Vernon, where Washington lived, past the nation's capital, which he founded, and to the Great Falls of the Potomac where the President demonstrated his skill as an engineer.  Developed as a memorial to George Washington, the Parkway may be used on any day to travel to exciting historical, natural, and recreational areas.

SPECIAL HIRING AUTHORITY CONSIDERATION:  Individuals who are eligible for consideration under special hiring authorities (i.e., 30% compensable veterans, severely handicapped individuals, former Peace Corps and VISTA volunteers, etc.) will be accepted and considered non-competitively for this vacancy.

This position is being filled under the Pathways Internship Program which is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with paid work opportunities in agencies to explore Federal careers while still in school. 

The anticipated entrance on duty date is February/March 2014 (IF SELECTED FOR THIS POSITION, YOU MUST BE A STUDENT CURRENTLY ENROLLED OR ACCEPTED FOR ENROLLMENT AT THE TIME OF APPOINTMENT).  This is an Excepted Service appointment not-to-exceed September 30, 2014.  This appointment may be extended until the incumbent's education program requirements have been completed (as long as the incumbent continues to meet the eligibility requirements under the Pathways Internship program).  This position WILL NOT be converted to a term or permanent appointment upon completion of incumbent's academic program requirements.There is no temporary housing available.

The hourly salary range for the GS-04 grade level is $14.74 to $19.16.

• You must be a U.S. Citizen and at least 16 years of age
• Incumbent is required to maintain and wear prescribed NPS uniform
• Incumbent must possess a valid state/District of Columbia driver's license
