JOB SUMMARY:
This position is located in the Division of Performing Arts at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts (WOTR) located in Vienna, Virginia.
WOTR is the only national park dedicated to presenting the performing arts. No matter what your age or taste in shows, you'll find something you like onstage at Wolf Trap. From May through September, multiple amphitheaters in the park present performances such as musicals, dance, opera, jazz, popular and country music. Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts offers a wealth of natural and cultural resources to the community and to the nation.
The incumbent is the principal staff assistant to the Superintendent at WOTR, for management of performing arts functions in the Filene Center.
This is a term position not-to-exceed 13 months (this position may be extended up to 4 years without competition in 12 month increments).
Wolf Trap National Park is located in Vienna, Virginia approximately twenty miles west of Washington, D.C. There is no public transportation or temporary housing available.
Physical Demands: Requires the ability to work long hours under continual stress. Incumbent must be able to function at varying height levels required by theatrical productions.
Work Environment: Work involves a moderate degree of risk, since many times there will be heavy objects hanging overhead. Work will be in or near high voltage areas and will include exposure to all degrees of weather ranging from cold to extreme heat and high humidity. Incumbent must be able to participate with the artist or technician in unusually long periods where stress becomes an important factor to consider in all decisions. Regular weekend and evening work are required in the performing season.
