The position is primarily focused on quality improvement and value engineering tasks, as an integral part of the mechanical engineering team. Specific tasks involve creation and refinement of complex parts and assemblies using Solidworks. Simulation and analysis of various design alternatives using simulation packages (thermal, and stress). Creation and evaluation of rapid prototypes. Engineering confidence testing of design solutions. Interface with suppliers to resolve issues. Interface with NPI and operations engineering staff to implement solutions. <BR><BR>The ideal candidate will have a BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience; MS mechanical engineering or equivalent experience is a plus; 5+ years experience with injection-molded plastics, magnesium die-casting, aluminum extrusions, sheet metal, thermal management and EMI RFI shielding; 3+ years experience with Solidworks software including surfacing tools; ISO, FDA or other regulated industry training and experience; Extensive experience in product development from conception to release.<BR>Experience with FEA strongly preferred; <BR><BR>SonoSite offers a fantastic compensation package, including full benefits, 401k and paid time off.
