Claims Service Analyst

Burlington, WA



Bring your claims support to this role where you will:

  • Provide claims processing
  • Investigate and apply contract benefits


The Claims Service Analyst II has completed requirements and responsibilities of a level I, works with the more complex and/or specialized claims and meets department standards for quantity, accuracy, timeliness and dependability for at least the last three consecutive months.

The Claims Service Analyst III has completed requirements and responsibilities of a level I and II and demonstrates effective problem-solving skills and works with the more complex and/or specialized claims with minimal supervision.


Key qualifications and experience:
Claims Service Analyst I

  • 1 year office experience or equivalent education / work experience, preferably in health insurance claims or in a medical office setting
  • Keyboarding skills of 30 wpm or 8,500 keystrokes per hour with 95% accuracy; 10-key skills and proficiency with PCs
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-9 coding preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload
  • High school diploma or GED

Claims Service Analyst II
The above, plus:

  • 1+ year experience as a Claims Service Analyst I with performance at the core level for 6 consecutive months or equivalent work experience
  • Understanding of medical terminology and ICD-9 / CPT coding
  • Knowledge and ability to process all claim types and/or functions as established by department
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Grasp new procedures quickly and incorporate new tasks, assignments, changes in procedures or system
  • Willing to assist customers
  • Exercise sound judgment and decision making based on thorough investigation of facts

Claims Service Analyst III
The above, plus:

  • 1+ year experience as Claims Service Analyst II with performance at the core level for 6 consecutive months, or equivalent experience
  • Provide excellent customer service to customers, providers, members, and member representatives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of staff
  • Ability to process multiple claim types and product lines
  • Above average analytical ability in identifying problems and above average skills in performing in-depth investigation, mature judgment in developing solutions and implementing a course of action
