               <td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Minimum/Required Qualifications:    -A Bachelor's degree in Horticulture or closely related field and two years of experience related to the area of assignment at a Biological Science Research Technician 2 level. Three additional years of experience related to the area of assignment at the Biological Science Research Technician 2 level may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree.  -Ability to maneuver up to 40 lbs.    Position Duties:   40% Evaluate fruit physiology and quality: fruit respiration rate, ethylene production rate, internal ethylene, scald inducing compounds (e.g., farnesene, conjugated trienols), ascorbic acid, pectin compounds, anthocyanin, sugar, acids, sensory evaluation etc.    15% Evaluate fungicides for disorder and decay control.    15% Collect and analyze data using computer applications, which involves data entry and generating reports.    5% Order gases, chemicals and other lab essentials through outside vendors.    5% Maintain and check storage rooms, including temperature, O2, CO2, ethylene, and RH.    5% Maintain lab instruments, including Gas Chromatography, flow-through ethylene and respiration determination system, Spectrophotometer, O2 and CO2 analyzers, etc.    5% Maintain wet lab by cleaning glassware and keeping counters and work areas clean, organized, and obstacle free.    5% Harvest fruit for analysis, requiring driving to orchards throughout Mid-Columbia Area.    5% Collect fruit decay samples from local packing-houses, requiring ability to lift up to 40 pound boxes of fruit.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            </font></td>
