Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position:
This position is seasonal. Projected work will be from approximately March through November with placement in non-work, non-pay status 3 months each year.

The Walla Walla District's civil works boundaries generally follow the Snake River drainage and include approximately 107,000 square miles in six states - Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, and small parts of Nevada and Utah. The District is commanded by a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officer, assisted by his civilian and military deputies and a workforce made up of approximately 650 engineers, scientists, technicians, trades and special/administrative support staff.

This position is located at Lower Monumental Project, a multi-purpose hydropower project with a mission of accomplishing the operation and maintenance of the facility for navigation, flood control, hydroelectric power generation, recreation and natural resources management. Lower Monumental Lock & Dam has approximately 60 employees and is located near the rural community of Kahlotus, WA. The project lies within commuting distance from several other communities of varying sizes. These areas include the rural towns of Connell, Prescott, and Waitsburg and the larger city of Walla Walla. In addition there is a full-service area known as the Tri-Cities that incorporates Kennewick, Pasco and Richland, WA which is approximately a 50 mile commute.
