Clinical problems treated by the ARNP shall include, but not be limited to health maintenance, common acute illnesses, management of stable chronic disease, minor surgical procedures, office procedures and orthopedics consistent with the community standard for primary care providers.<BR><BR><BR><BR>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:<BR><BR>1. The NP is responsible for active participation in Cardiac EP program working in close coordination and under the supervision of Attending Electrophysiologist by providing direct clinical care to cardiovascular patients in the outpatient EP clinic, device clinic, EP lab area and inpatient units. The NP is responsible for maintaining the practice consistent with the rules and guidelines<BR>2. Evaluate new and established cardiovascular patients in the pre and post procedural and/or perioperative periods as well as diagnose, treat and manage common conditions in the cardiovascular patient population.<BR>3. Perform an appropriate history and physical exam on all assigned patients and enter data into the ACC-NCDR if applicable. The Nurse Practitioner will write progress notes; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings; a psychosocial history will be obtained relevant to patient care. The Nurse Practitioner will assume responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients.<BR>4. Facilitate and order diagnostic studies including echocardiograms, cardiolite, magnetic resonance imaging, cardiac CT and if cardiac catheterization is indicated, review with attending Electrophysiologist.<BR>5. Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explain necessity, preparation, and nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient. Obtain an informed consent for the appropriate procedures and conscious sedation consent on all assigned patients. Discharge all assigned procedural patients, as directed by the Attending physician, including, but not limited to dictating discharge summary, patient education and entering discharge orders.<BR>6. Work closely with the EP Lab charge nurse, outpatient discharge service, device clinic, inpatient rounding teams, and office personnel to appropriately allocate workload based on daily clinical and operational needs.<BR>7. Assess patients for change in status and institute appropriate interventions, including emergency interventions in an effort to stabilize the patient in preparation for transfer to the Emergency Department, Operating Room or inpatient setting.<BR>8.
