Job Description: Join Peacehealth, St. John Medical Center in this full-time Clinical Nurse Specialist position to support Critical Care Services. Must have experience in critical care. This position reports directly to the Director of Learning and Development/Clincial Education and works collaboratively with the CNS team and the Nurse Managers. JOB SUMMARY In the provision of indirect and direct patient care, the clinical nurse specialist integrates the overlapping roles of consultant, leader, educator, researcher and advanced practitioner. Works in collaboration with nursing leadership, nurse educators, and other clinical nurse specialists to identify and grow caring practices that enhance the wellness of patients, families, caregivers and systems. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Assists in the collaborative development and implementation of a variety of programs including but not limited to competency based orientation, programs of care for specific patient populations, ongoing education/training and competency assessment. * Serves as a consult to other nurses and healthcare professionals in assessing the needs of and planning care for patients and families. * Serves as a role model in the provision of patient care through professional behaviors and the application of advanced clinical skills. * Collaborates with the unit managers and director to establish and evaluate the standards of nursing practice (at the nurse, unit and organizational level), communicates these standards to the nursing personnel on the units, changes standards as necessary, follows up on discrepancies with the manager and individual caregiver as necessary. * Serves as a leader in the provision of evidence-based care through the interpretation and dissemination of research findings and quality data to the staff. * Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Master''s degree in nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or a graduate degree (masters or doctorate) with a post-masters certificate as a Clinical Nurse Specialist from an accredited school of nursing EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: Minimum of five years of experience as an RN required.
