The company also produces containerboard and corrugated boxes. Longview operates a pulp and paper mill at Longview, Wash., and a network of seven converting plants in the western United States. Our pulp and paper mill is strategically located in Longview, Wash., close to several export ports and with ready access to Interstate 5, two rail lines and on-site barge traffic. Our facilities include one of the highest-capacity and most diverse paper mills in North America, and a network of well-equipped corrugated container plants in four Western states. <BR><BR><b><U>Summary: </b></u><BR>The Maintenance Superintendent for E & I plays a key role in the Longview organization by leading their team of maintenance professionals towards world class maintenance performance. This role provides an opportunity for a driven individual to lead process changes in an environment rich with talent, a robust maintenance budget and clear goals and expectations from executive leadership.  <BR><BR><BR><b><U>Responsibilities: </b></u><BR><li>Ensure the safety of all maintenance personnel through administration of programs, demonstrating core safety values and behaviors, and instilling the value of personal responsibility for safety in each individual<BR><li>Direct leadership of salaried staff in the Maintenance Department.  Including coaching, counseling and rewarding employees.  Takes an active role in the employee’s Performance Management process. <BR><li>Teaches and implements maintenance best practices through a strong understanding of proper maintenance processes, including shutdowns.<BR><li>Drive the planning and scheduling effort of the paper machines by ensuring the use of appropriate methods and procedures for properly allocating personnel and estimating, planning and scheduling jobs.<BR><li>Ensure that training is scheduled and received by all salaried staff and hourly maintenance employees.<BR><li>Responsible for maintenance cost planning and control for maintenance of the five paper machines. <BR><li>Partner closely with Operations to constantly improve production performance of the paper machines. <BR><li>Develop and monitor performance metrics in the assigned areas of responsibility<BR><li>Design, recommend and implement Condition and Preventive Maintenance approaches. <BR><li>Function as a liaison to other mill departments (operations, finance, purchasing, process control) and outside suppliers and service providers.<BR><li>Prioritize  properly authorized emergency work when conflicts arise<BR><li>Conduct inspections cycles for paper machine equipment and facilities.<BR><li>Communicate with purchasing, stores, and receiving to ensure timely and economical spare parts availability. <BR><li>Understand and follow the Bargaining Agreement and the Seniority Work Rules as they relate to personnel coordination. <BR><BR><b><U>Qualifications: </b></u><BR><li>A minimum of five years maintenance leadership experience in paper mill operations.  <BR><li>Maintenance leadership experience at multiple paper mills driven by successful moves highly desired.<BR><li>A proven experience of thorough understanding of maintenance operating procedures, best practices and conditions<BR><li>Knowledge of both mechanical and electrical components used in paper machine operations. <BR><li>A demonstrated understanding of the capabilities of craftsmen, internal shops and external shops.<BR><li>Experience involving training and development of skilled trades is preferred. <BR><li>An engineering degree is preferred but not required.  <BR><BR><b>To Apply</b> Please visit our website http://www.longviewfibre.com/careers and fill out an online application.<BR>Longview Fibre Paper and Packaging, Inc. is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer.</font></td>
