               <td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">The closing date for this position has been extended from October 19, 2012, to November 2, 2012.  This position will work primarily in the Onsite Sewage Operation and Maintenance (O&M) and Water Quality program areas.   Duties will include: providing technical assistance in person and over the phone, including review of septic system permit applications and designs and inspection reports; interpretation of laws and policies; receiving and investigating complaints; educating the public regarding septic systems; conducting surface water quality monitoring in fresh and marine settings; managing and analyzing water quality data; writing technical reports; conducting sanitary surveys and dye testing of septic systems; documenting inspection results; preparing documentation needed for enforcement action for failing septic systems; inventorying  onsite sewage systems and managing onsite sewage system permit and O&M records; assisting with program development, drafting policies  and making recommendations for consideration by department management and the Thurston County Board of Health.  This position will perform field work up to 50 percent of the time.   <BR><BR>QUALIFICATIONS:<BR>Bachelor of Science degree in environmental health, biology, bacteriology, or a related field.  Three years of professional environmental health work experience requiring extensive public contact.  Experience must include three of the following program areas: sewage, food, water, vector control, epidemiology, solid waste, and hazardous waste; demonstrated ability to perform as a lead special projects manager within a single program area.  Current Washington State Driver's License or have requested and obtained an appropriate accommodation.  May be required to possess a professional certification applicable to area of assignment (e.g., Hydrogeologist, Waste Water Treatment System Inspection Certificate of Competency, Qualified Sanitary Surveyor, etc.).  Must be recognized by the Washington State Sanitarian Registration Board as Registered Sanitarian within eighteen months of the date of hire.  Ability to utilize a personal computer and related software packages to perform word processing, analysis, information retrieval and tracking.<BR> <BR>To be considered for this position, please submit the following: <BR> <BR>Application, Supplemental Questionnaire<BR><BR>Submit application package to: Thurston County Information Desk, 2000 Lakeridge Dr. SW, Olympia, WA  98502.  Application package must be received by 5 p.m. on the closing date listed above.  Postmarks will not be accepted.  Electronically submitted application packages will not be accepted.<BR> <BR>Copies of applications will be accepted only with an original signature.
