<td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Certified Medical Assistant<BR>Department: Family Medicine<BR>Schedule: Full Time<BR>Shift: Days with occasional evenings and weekends<BR>Hours: 30<BR>Job Details: <BR>* State Registered Healthcare Assistant<BR>* <BR><BR><BR>OVERALL PURPOSE OF POSITION:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><BR><BR><BR>To assist the practitioner in providing quality patient care by performing a variety of tasks, the exact nature of which will be determined by the particular specialty area in which the individual is working.<BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR>JOB FUNCTIONS<BR><BR><BR>ESSENTIAL:<BR><BR><BR>1. Greets patients and escorts them to the exam room; prepares patient for exam; maintains timely flow of patients.<BR><BR><BR>2. Takes appropriate vital signs and records on patient''s record; may also assist in taking patient history.<BR><BR><BR>3. May administer injections if the individual has met the reqts of the state of WA Dept of Licensing Health Care Asst regs and has a current cert from the Dept of Health.<BR><BR><BR>4. Assists the practitioner as needed with procedures and patient exams.<BR><BR><BR>5. Orders lab tests, x-rays, and other tests, procedures and treatments as directed by the practitioner; instructs patient in collection of samples and in testing procedures and requirements; follows through to be sure that reports are obtained and the patient is notified of results and any necessary follow-up.<BR><BR><BR>6. Has a working knowledge of billing rules and regulations.<BR><BR><BR>7. Answers phones; answers patient questions; may take info on the phone and in person and relays important information to the practitioner and provides follow-up to the patient.<BR><BR><BR>8. May fax in medication orders to a pharmacy per practitioner orders.<BR><BR><BR>9. Participates in making appointments; insures that preference is given to patients with acute problems.<BR><BR><BR>10. May participate in patient and family teaching per practitioner?s orders if sufficient knowledge and skill in this area has been demonstrated.<BR><BR><BR>11. Assists in maintaining a complete and legally correct medical record on all patients.<BR><BR><BR>12. Cleans exam room and procedure rooms including equipment after each visit.<BR><BR><BR><BR>MARGINAL:<BR><BR><BR>1. Cleans, soaks, and sterilizes instruments according to Infection Control guidelines.<BR><BR><BR>2. Participates in cleaning the area''s utility room and ordering supplies.<BR><BR><BR>3. Attends required meetings and serves on committees as requested.<BR><BR><BR>4. Participates in professional development activities.<BR><BR><BR>5.
