               <td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant<BR> <BR>Department Psychiatric Unit 1 NW<BR> <BR>Location MNP 1317<BR> <BR>Work Unit Description <BR> <BR> Psychiatric Unit 1 NW<BR> <BR>Work Schedule, Hours, FTE, Salary Range <BR> <BR> Part-time, 0.6 FTE; Schedule: 08:30 to 14:30 Tuesday through Friday; Salary range: $17.54 - $23.71/hour: Location: Marquam Hill.<BR> <BR>Functions/Duties of Position <BR> <BR> The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant is a member of the Inter-disciplinary team that has the primary responsibility for direct care to Psychiatric Care Unit patients. The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant assesses cognitive functioning , contributes to the plan of care, implements and evaluates the care delivered. The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant is expected to practice in accordance with professional standards, core values, and with a commitment to service excellence.The setting in which this position functions is a locked 20 bed acute care Psychiatric Care Unit(PCU) , that provides care to patients age 18 y.o. and beyond that have primary psychiatric disorders. In addition to psychiatric diagnoses, our patients have chemical dependency disorders; neurological deficits; require medical surgical care for stabilized self inflicted injuries or require medical surgical care for concurrent stabilized physical illness and psychiatric disorders that require interventions in an Acute Care Setting.The focus of patient care is stabilization of symptoms that brought the patient to the hospital and transition to their community providers for ongoing treatment. The PCU provides voluntary and involuntary treatment to patients. The PCU uses an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. The primary team includes physicians, nurses, occupational therapy and case management<BR> <BR>Job Requirements <BR> <BR> Required: High School Education. Completion COTA Program One (1) year experience with mentally ill patients. Accepting applications from newly certified COTA. Effective communication skills. Knowledge of Mental Health Disorders, treatments, and community health systems. Ability to collaborate respectfully with all members of the staff. Oregon Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.<BR> <BR>Additional Details <BR> <BR> Acute Care Psychiatric Unit; Fast paced working environment with high stimulation; potential for body fluid exposure and risk of assault( assault statistics for PCU are extremely low).
