               <td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">LocationPortland, OR<BR>Security Clearance Required?No Security Clearance Requiredabout security clearance definitions<BR>Position Description<BR>Completely and independently set up, operate, adjust, etc., all types of conventional milling machines, three dimensional duplicating and profile milling machines* and numerically controlled single or multiple tool milling machines, to accomplish machining operations. Use all forms of control media, program documents, holding fixtures, part pattern or templates**, and cutting tools to machine to quality requirements and specifications anything the machines are, or may be adapted to machine by manually operating or entering any required data. Make preparation and adjustments to ready machines for operation. Make adjustments during machining cycles and, as authorized, install various types of cutting tools to obtain desired results. Use measuring instruments, gages and tools to dimensionally check cutting tools and/or parts for conformance to prints and specifications. As authorized, assist the planner or programmer to determine final numerical control program. Initiate requests for corrective action when machine malfunctions occur and detect faulty tools and take correct action in conformance with shop practice and procedures. Load, preload and manually position fixture at designated program stops. Make machine setups to accomplish machining operations such as drilling, boring, face milling, slotting or straight line cutting.<BR><BR><BR><BR>Competencies<BR>Operate computing equipment to access job information (e.g., drawings, specifications and other online information systems). Operate computing equipment to perform job tasks (e.g., upload/download programs, create/edit CNC or PLC programs). Knowledge of the coordinate system to identify multiple axes (e.g., X,Y,Z). Use various types of hand tools and/or hand-held power tools. Sequence and layout own work and perform any bench work necessary to finish parts to quality specifications. Use various jigs and fixtures to orient parts into pre-defined positions for part fabrication and assembly. Knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures and machinability of materials (e.g., cutting speed and feed rates for material being machined). Set-up and operate NC/CNC milling machines. Includes knowing machine capabilities & limitations, controller operations, identifying and resolving problems such as unusual sounds or vibrations in the machinery, changes in offset values, and worn cutters/tool inserts. Use various types of precision measuring tools. Investigate and resolve problems; devise and implement solutions. Work with others as part of a team which includes giving and receiving feedback, assisting others in completion of tasks; possess interpersonal, listening, and participation skills. Understand the application of technical documents/information such as specifications, manufacturing plans and safety information.
