Salary range $13.42-$17.88.<BR> <BR>Functions/Duties of Position <BR> <BR> <BR>The purpose of this position is to assist dentists, dental students, and dental hygienists at the chair in all facets of dentistry by preparing materials and setting up the correct equipment for the provider?s use. Assume responsibility for any expanded duties that may be delegated by the Lead Assistant, Clinic Administrator, Dentist/Instructors, or Director.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><BR> <BR>Job Requirements <BR> <BR> <BR>Required:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><BR>Two years of chair side dental assisting;ORCompletion of a Dental Assistant training program;OR<BR>Equivalent combination of experience and training; Passed the DANB exam for dental assisting/x-ray certification (does not require CDA).Certification by the Oregon State Board of Dentistry for Radiological Proficiency required. Current valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) card required.<BR>Preferred:<BR>Completion of a Dental Assistant training program. Two years of chair-side dental assisting. General knowledge of the equipment, procedures, and terminology used in dentistry. General knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique, scrubbing, and disinfecting. General knowledge of the standards, principles, and practices related to radiological functions. Basic knowledge of professional and legal standards required to work as a dental assistant. Basic knowledge of routine clerical functions (e.g., maintaining patient charts, scheduling treatment). Skill in operation of x-ray equipment and processing film. Skill in mixing amalgams, cements, and impression materials. Skill in chair side assistance including four-handed dentistry. Skill in performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Skill in safely manipulating equipment, instruments, and materials. Skill in answering questions for patients, students, and health care professionals.
