<td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Designer II<BR>Location: Corporate - Portland, OR - Headquarters<BR>Requisition Number: 5588<BR># of openings: 1<BR><BR><BR>Description<BR><BR>Position Summary:<BR>As our Designer II, Outerwear, you will work closely with Design Director and Product Line Managers(s) to design and merchandise the Outwear line on assigned categories and projects. Initiate and interpret new product concepts to meet the needs of our customers, resulting in sales and growth for the company. You'll present design concepts including fabrication, style definition, color and features for review by Vice President(s), General Manager(s), Design and/or Merchandising Director(s) and Business Unit Members. You will manage design projects and work with team members to ensure that deadlines are met to reach company goals.<BR>Responsibilities:<BR>* Research worldwide marketplace and interpret consumer and market needs as they relate to product category(s).<BR>* Attend selected trade shows for market research and attend sales meetings to gain thorough understanding of customer/product requirements.<BR>* Propose design ideas based on seasonal assignments with regard to fabrication, style definition, functional features, fit requirements and design details.<BR>* Provide sketches and line art to communicate design concepts, including multiple views and detail sketches as necessary. Provide design/concept boards to communicate design and color direction, and present at Design Reviews.<BR>* Work closely with Materials Research to define new areas to research and source<BR>* Participate in prototype process for assigned category(s).<BR>* Propose color palette for assigned category(s) and participate in color process, including defining lab dip needs and color-way development on a style-by-style basis.<BR>Requirements:<BR>* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent specializing in apparel design, fabric arts, or related field. Associate’s degree with 2-3 years related work experience acceptable in lieu of bachelor’s degree.<BR>* A minimum of 2 years garment design experience in the apparel industry, specifically in Outerwear.<BR>* Experience with outdoor industry and apparel category preferred.<BR>* Proficient with computer design software as well as demonstrated talent and ability to perform free hand drawings.<BR>Columbia Sportswear is an equal opportunity employer. </font></td>
