               <td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Informatics Software Developer<BR> <BR>Department Oregon Clinical & Translational Research Institute<BR> <BR>Location CHH 15000<BR> <BR>Work Unit Description <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>Work Schedule, Hours, FTE, Salary Range <BR> <BR> 1.0 FTE; Monday - Friday; Salary range $55,000 - $60,000 annually<BR> <BR>Functions/Duties of Position <BR> <BR> <BR>The Informatics Developer has the primary responsibility of designing and building innovative database-driven web applications and automation tools to support the scientific needs of the Oregon Clinical & Translational Research Institute (OCTRI). Together with senior biomedical informatics program (BMIP) staff, the incumbent in this position (i) collaborates with a diverse set of OCTRI investigators, scientists, research staff, and informatics staff to formulate and explore broad scientific questions; (ii) translates abstract research processes into concrete software applications using informatics techniques; (iii) programs computer systems critical to clinical and translational research protocols; and (iv) communicates system/application designs to technical and non-technical peers, both verbally and in writing.<BR>Key Responsibilities:<BR>* Design and develop innovative database-driven informatics applications using a variety of languages and frameworks (e.g. Java, Spring Framework, Actionscript, PHP).<BR>* Develop systems that interface with a variety of standard and proprietary data sources (e.g. SQL relational databases, Web Services, XML) to gather, transform and aggregate clinical and translational research data.<BR>* Learn additional languages and frameworks quickly as projects require. Assist in the development of OCTRI?s overall software architecture. Maintain existing web applications by implementing new features and fixing bugs.Interface professionally with OCTRI investigators, scientists, staff, researchers, and others to provide first-level research computing support, as well as understand research protocol needs and translate them into scalable, reusable, and cohesive informatics applications.<BR>* Develop ETL scripts/processes to clean up legacy data and import it into new applications.<BR>* Collaborate with other engineers on code reviews, internal infrastructure, process enhancements, and documentation.Work with team members and end-users to help define and document data/business requirements for customized software application development. Identify and define use-cases.
